About the Oak Bracelet

A friend wrote to me because he wanted me to make him a piece of jewelry from oak leaves. This tree has a great bond with his ancestors and his family and also with him, who grew up surrounded by a forest of these specimens.

When I showed him the leaves I took, he was surprised by the thorns that had their tips. The oaks that he knew belonged to an ancient forest and no longer had them.

Thorns are a defense mechanism that protects trees while they are young and vulnerable. When they become adults, their leaves become rounded because they can withstand attacks and damage for the rest of their life.

That is the image we have when we are children, that adults are strong and invincible, but when we grow up, life teaches us that they also continue to need protection and help to get ahead.

This bracelet represents those who fight to hold on, despite the broken foot and the atrocious wind. It is made with the leaves of a young oak, an oak capable of defending itself.
